SLC Operations drives the Vivarail battery train over the Forth Bridge (includes video footage)

As a preview to COP26 and to demonstrate the range and viability of battery technology on trains, SLC Operations drove the Vivarail battery train 230-001 over the Forth Bridge using only battery power on Saturday 30th October. The unit easily demonstrated is 60+ miles of usable range on the 47 mile journey from Inverkeithing to Glasgow over the Forth Bridge.

The unit had been driven the previous evening from Alstom’s Depot at Polmadie to Inverkeithing where it was recharged overnight using Vivarail’s portable smart-charging unit.

SLC Operations is proud to support Vivarail and Network Rail at COP26 in Glasgow.
